For me, running Windows 7, it locks up after about 20 minutes.
But that is with any version, and with or without your English patch, so I know that your translation is not at all to blame.
The fact that it locks up after decently long period of time suggests to me that it may be some sort of garbage handling error due to drivers, or other external sources that results in an out-of-bounds error. Wish I could check out the source code, I know I could figure it out.
Awesome job on the patch, though. I just hope that someday I can use it.
For me the latest patch, the official one prolonged the gameplay for like 1-2 min but in the end it still blocks on Windows 7, probably also regardless of english or not. If it is possible can you somehow make it compatible with Windows 7 on your patch. ^^
I just tried running it as an administrator and in compatibility mode and it didn't work either.
Well, the translations are beautiful, however...I'm using Daybreak V1.10 and I can't play the story now that I've installed the patch. I get as far as the character selection screen, select characters and weapons etc and then...well that's it. If I press GO, it just restarts the selection process. Help?
I can play the game fine (up to date with the official patch too) on my vista computer but the problem is I can't make use of the English patch. I put all of the files into the directory as the readme suggests. When I start the patch (opening it through the Satoko icon), and click apply patch, nothing happens. It'll see every patchz file in the directory but do nothing with them.
In my case my Japanese + officially patched installation plays perfectly fine, but I cannot make use of your English patch at all. No errors or anything, it just does nothing when I click apply patch. It's stuck in Japanese regardless.
You must be some sort of super genius, or maybe I just lack common sense when I'm getting tired (Go me). Patches seem to be working apart from the Mion/Shion patch. If I attempt that one it gives me a DAT error saying it can't be modified. The rest seem to be fine though.
Update!
Apparently the patch did nothing despite having done progress. Nothing was translated at all.
Oh, that it did. I was scrolled all the way down to the bottom so I didn't even see the new .exe files.
Seems despite my machine being vista it works fine, but I'll test it for a little while and let you know of any ACTUAL errors, not human idiocy. You might want to update your readme though just in case.
Alright so I did in fact encounter an error. After maybe 10-20 minutes my versus match was interrupted and gave me a "DaybreakDX-en.exe has stopped working" notification. I never received that when my game was untranslated so it leads me to believe the patch is at fault.
Alright this will probably be my last reply to this blog post but I'll fill in a detail here. I think everything here, both the game and the patch, work fine on Vista (64 bit anyway, can't vouch for the others because I don't have them).
I'm not sure if it was just a badly timed fluke but I have not experienced the crash again while playing. I've done as many as a dozen versus matches (long ones too, 200% defense and balloon inflations), as well as a story mode to the end and never crashed since.
So I think the end result here is that the patch works just fine with Vista (the timing of the crash was poor in my opinion). If people are having issues getting it to play on vista then the problem is most likely how they have their windows settings configured.
I'm running windows 7, and perform-patch.exe does nothing at all. When I run it, absolutely nothing happens. I tried doing it as administrator, but no luck...
When I try to troubleshoot compatibility for the program, I get an error that says "The specified path does not contain a valid program. Please select a valid program (ending with .exe)."
I'm having problems trying to play it on Windows 7: it won't run for more than 10 minutes. It's a shame, thou: I've bought this game so I could play online with my friends, but they are all XP users w/ no problems running it at all. =(
/\ Were it so easy. I've already done it, but 10 minutes is the "play limit". If I don't disable the cores, all I can play is 2 seconds before the game crashes =/
Both methods have similar issues: the game plays fine foi a while, then it crashes. I believe other people around the internet are having the same problem as me >.<

ReplyDeleteAsmoduke: That's with original Daybreak, not Daybreak DX? (I could understand if patched Daybreak DX had some problems with story mode.)

Did you select one of the .patchz files from the top list before clicking "Apply Patch"?

Did it create any new .exe files? It should create a DaybreakDX-en.exe file and some daybreak##-en.dat files.

So thanks and good luck on the updates.
does this work with kai?
ReplyDeleteIt works with all versions I know of (DVD versions of Daybreak prime and Kai, most recent patches of prime and Kai).

ReplyDeleteNever mind. I fixed the problem by running it in Windows XP compatibility mode.
ReplyDeleteim having trouble getting the actual patch download, megaupload just takes me to a fbi warning
ReplyDeletePatches are distributed on mediafire and jumbofiles, but not megaupload.
ReplyDeleteWhoops... Subtitled prologue was on megaupload. I'll reupload it somewhere. Don't worry; you won't need the prologue to play.

ReplyDeleteDisable all but one core.

ReplyDeleteWhich method did you use:
ReplyDelete- Start the game, then disable all but one core for that process?
- Reboot into single core mode, then play?
(Daybreak only works with the second method on my computer)

ReplyDeleteHello, before anything I just wanna say, Great patch!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, due to Megaupload going down, it's impossible to find the Team Twins subbed patch.
Can you please upload it again?
